Built in 1811, Historic Oakland is one of the most beautiful and historic buildings in Howard County, Maryland. Oakland is the perfect setting for ceremonies, wedding receptions, bridal showers, holiday parties, family celebrations, business meetings, or retreats. As you walk through its grand entrance, you will step back into time to experience the serenity of an authentic country estate. With interior and exterior entertaining options, Historic Oakland offers a wide array of choices for your event. Here is what you can expect when you host your wedding at Historic Oakland Manor.
Three Levels of Entertainment Space
Historic Oakland’s manor offers three levels of entertaining space that can accommodate up to 180 guests when seated throughout the manor house with free, onsite parking. Our main level Ballroom can accommodate up to 80 guests seated banquet style. Larger receptions or parties of up to 180 guests take place under a beautifully appointed tent located in our nicely manicured back lawn from March through mid-November. The tent can accommodate up to 180 guests.
Main Ballroom
Our most elegant room on the main level can accommodate approximately 80 guests seated banquet style. Seating 80 guests in the Ballroom requires that any additional event set up, food and beverage stations, etc., be located outside the Ballroom.
Four glass doors in the ballroom provide natural lighting, leading out to an enclosed Veranda—a perfect spot for cocktails, a bar, or dessert. Using the Veranda increases the total guest seating capacity to over 100, and utilizing the foyer will add even more.
Veranda
Our lovely covered Veranda can hold up to 32 guests seated at banquet tables or up to 50 for an intimate cocktail hour. It can be used for numerous different situations, including a bar, appetizer, or dessert station. It can be enclosed in case of rain or cold weather and offers a beautiful view of our wooded backyard.
Bishop’s Garden
A beautiful, secluded garden adjacent to the Manor’s east side is a lovely hideaway for your ceremony. Up to 80 guests can watch you say your I do’s under the beautiful Magnolia tree.
Have Your Wedding Your Way
You have the luxury of hiring any caterer you choose to make your event extra special. Your caterer may be your favorite restaurant or a few of your favorite dishes from a local market. Hire a band, a DJ, or a string quartet. Decorate with fresh flowers, lanterns, candles, and more.

Cost Breakdown
Price is determined by the day and time you rent the venue and the specific area(s) that you contract. The front lawn, the Bishop’s Garden, and the back lawn are included depending on usage. The tent is an additional rental cost when renting the house.

Oakland’s venue is “à la carte,” which allows our clients to provide everything else to complete their day. Set up and take down of Oakland’s tables and chairs is included with the rental. If you are bringing in rental equipment, Oakland staff is not responsible for the setup or take down of that equipment. An Oakland Facility Assistant will be on-site to manage the venue on the day of your event.
