We’ve compiled a list of questions to ask when on a wedding venue tour.
When planning a wedding, choosing the right venue is one of the most critical decisions couples make. It will set the tone for the day and determine how comfortable and relaxed guests feel during the ceremony and reception. To ensure that couples choose the perfect wedding venue for their big day, we’ve compiled a list of questions to ask when on a wedding venue tour.
What Are The Room Capacity Limitations?
This is an important question when touring any potential wedding venues, as every couple wants to make sure there’s enough room for all of their friends and loved ones. Knowing this information ahead of time assists couples in avoiding last-minute scrambling if more guests RSVP than expected.
Historic Oakland’s manor offers three levels of entertaining space that can accommodate up to 180 guests when they are seated throughout the manor house with free, onsite parking. Our main level Ballroom can accommodate up to 80 guests seated banquet style. Larger receptions or parties of up to 180 guests occur under a beautifully appointed tent in our nicely manicured back lawn from March through mid-November. The tent can accommodate up to 180 guests.
Are There Any Preferred Vendors?
Most wedding venues have preferred vendors they work with regularly, such as caterers or photographers. It is wise to ask about these vendors before booking or signing anything, as this can impact who can be hired and work at the event. While this does add restrictions to the vendor list, it can also add credibility to the vendors since the wedding venue has worked with them before. Asking about this saves time and money later on down the line since dealing with unfamiliar vendors may require extra effort from both parties involved.
What Kind Of Onsite Support Is Available?
Once the wedding venue has been selected, knowing what kind of support is available onsite before, during, and after the event is essential. Find out who will be responsible for setting up tables and chairs, audio/visual equipment, cleaning up after the event, etc. It’s also helpful to learn about any emergency protocols in place in case something goes wrong during the event, so that couples know everything is being taken care of properly should anything arise unexpectedly during their special day.
Is There A Plan To Accommodate Weather Changes?
If possible, it’s best to inquire about an alternate plan in case it rains on the day of the event. Many venues offer indoor spaces if inclement weather should occur, but some may only allow rain plans once the forecast has been issued within 48 hours of the event date. Ask the owner or employee at the wedding venue to ensure that there is a plan for bad weather.
