Timeless in a trendy world

Latest wedding trends can be intimidating and overwhelming, especially if you are looking for a timeless twist in all of the trends. Between all of the new styles coming out, it’s hard to remain classic. That being said, these wedding traditions have stood the test of time and you can implement some of these within your wedding to continue the tradition!

The easiest way to remain classic and be sure your wedding contains a common theme is color! By choosing a soft color palette that is cohesive and complementary, you can create an unforgettable nod to tradition. Neutrals are a great place to start, and if you want to add to that, choose a rich color like navy or red. By skipping accents and focusing in on metals and textures, you can remain within your color scheme. You can still create a change in scenery with silvers or golds, wood or industrial metal. Feel free to get creative! One thing to caution with this is to take a look at your venue. Make sure your venue does not have any stand out wallpaper, furniture, or accents that might make this difficult.

Venue

Speaking of venues, another simple way to plan your wedding in a traditional sense is to pick a traditional venue. Country clubs, estates, ballrooms or even tents and courtyards can be an easy way to showcase your love while ensuring your wedding is classic and timeless. These venues usually have understated décor and allow for a softer color palette like mentioned above. Avoid rustic barns and venues that have a strong theme, as that may clash with your theme, and consider highlighting one signature piece such as a custom black and white dance floor or a red and white cake!

Photo Ready

When considering attire, décor, and stationary, consider if they will translate in pictures for years to come. Many couples remember their day through photos and fine china, candelabras, minimal satin gowns and black and white tuxes. These staples go a long way to promise your pictures will remain in style for multiple years. If you are not one for a big ball gown, luckily there are lots of fitted classy options to choose from. Pairing pearl jewelry, a romantic veil and a simple but beautiful hair style can create the look you want. This takes minimal effort and is reflected in your beautiful pictures without overshadowing the most important part of your day – your love!

Stationary

Another easy way to stay traditional is to order monogrammed stationary! Looking back on wedding stationary, one of the things that has changed the most is how informal it can be. By staying traditional and formal with personalized monograms or letterpress, your guests can expect the attire to be formal as well. Hand-written calligraphy is also a personal touch that can add a regal element to your day.

Floral arrangements

When thinking of wedding flowers, the first thing that comes to mind are roses. Classic, romantic and timeless while not overstated. A symmetrical, rounded bouquet tied with satin ribbons or lace will go quite a long way in creating pictures to look back on and remember the day without aging it. I have seen some brides who add a personal touch by incorporating their mother’s or grandmother’s wedding dresses to the bouquet as ribbon, as well!

Music

Last but not least, signature wedding songs are a timeless tradition. Artists like Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, and many others can be played to enhance your day without straying away from tradition.

While trendy weddings and creating new traditions are just as fun, finding subtle ways to bring in and create a timeless element is just as important for your day. Little things like this can create some amazing pictures and ensure your day will be remembered by all!
